William “Bill” Edward Ludwig, 82, Crane, Missouri was born August 13, 1940 in Branson, Missouri to Edward Dell and Mary Hanna Thomas Ludwig and departed this life May 22, 2023 at the Missouri Veterans Home in Mt. Vernon, Missouri.
Bill’s father had died at an early age and his grandfather John Thomas came to live with the family after his wife had passed and became the father figure in Bills life. Bill had been a lifelong resident of the area and had attended the First Baptist Church in Billings, Missouri. He had served his country in the United States Navy and worked as a manager with the Paul Muller Company for many years. He had many interests in life, he was an artist who liked drawing, hunting and playing music with the “Boys.” Bill also enjoyed woodworking and was a great cook. In his early life Bill worked as a river guide on the James River, where he may be gone for several days, setting up camps and cooking for people. Bill would also give advice even if it wasn’t asked for.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents, beloved grandfather and two sisters, Louise Moore and Lucille Johnson.
Survivors include two brothers, Kenneth Ludwig and wife Yoci of Independence, Missouri and John Ludwig and wife Joyce of Aurora, Missouri; seven nieces, three nephews other relatives and friends.
Memorial services will be held June 2, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. in Westrip Funeral Home, Crane, Missouri. Bill’s cremains will be placed at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery, Springfield, Missouri at a later date under the care of Westrip Funeral Home Crane, Missouri.
Visitation will be held Thursday June 1, 2023 from 6:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. in the funeral home.
