William Clark “Billy” Hayes
William Clark “Billy” Hayes, 52, of Springfield, Missouri, formerly of Crane, Missouri was born on December 30, 1969 to William Robert “Bob” Hayes and Mary Joyce Dresslaer Hayes and departed this life on January 3, 2022 in Cox Medical Center, Springfield, Missouri.
Billy was a lifelong resident of the area growing up and graduating from Crane High School. Billy graduated from Southwest Missouri State University with a Bachelor of Science degree.
Billy was a Deportation Officer with the division of Homeland Security. Billy began his federal career in July, 1997 with the Immigration and Naturalization Service (INS), Border Patrol. DO Hayes served with the Border Patrol at Falfurrias, Texas until June, 1999, when he transferred service to the United States Bureau of Prisons at the US Medical Center for Federal Prisoners (USMCFP) in Springfield, Missouri. Billy returned to legacy INS in December, 2002 when he became a Detention Enforcement Officer at the Springfield, Missouri INS office. In 2003 Billy became an Immigration Enforcement Agent (IEA) with the Department of Homeland Security, Immigration and Customs Enforcement. In September, 2015 Billy was promoted to Deportation Officer.
A consummate professional and dedicated public servant, Billy enjoyed being outdoors, deer hunting, fishing, and spending time with his children, whom he constantly boasted about. Billy had an infectious laugh, light heart, and cheerful disposition. If he couldn’t cheer you up with a joke or a laugh, he would try by smoking your favorite meat, another hobby of his. Billy loved animals was a believer in “Big Foot.” He would do anything for anybody.
Billy is survived by his parents Bob and Mary, his children, son Dalton and daughter Macy, the mother of his children, Jennifer; two brothers, Richard (Amber) Hayes and Chris (Crystal) Hayes; nice and nephews, Christian and Carter Hayes and Cammie and Colin Hayes, numerous other relatives and many friends. He will be mourned and missed by all that had the chance to know and love him.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, January 8, 2022 in the First Baptist Church, Crane, Missouri. Burial with Full Honors will follow in Crane Community Cemetery. Visitation will be held Friday, January 7, 2022 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in Westrip Funeral Home, Crane, Missouri.
