Bob Lynn Metcalf July 19, 2017
Bob Lynn Metcalf, age 82 of Springfield, Missouri went to be with the Lord and Savior on July 19, 2017 after a brief illness. He was born January 1, 1935 in Crane, Missouri to Thomas Glen Metcalf and Inez (Steele) Metcalf. He was a 1951 graduate of Crane High School.
On April 6, 1952, he married Maxie Faye Hagler in Harrison, Arkansas. Together they had two daughters and one son. Bob and Maxie Faye grew their marriage and family through their strong faith serving the Lord. They were members at the First Baptist Church Crane, where Bob served as a deacon and a Sunday School Director for many years. Bob and Maxie Faye enjoyed traveling together, St. Louis Cardinal baseball, as well as spending time with family and friends.
Bob worked for over 50 years in construction and as a custom home builder with his son, Brent. He also worked for the Crane R-III School District for 30 years, where he made a lasting positive effect on the lives of many students and families. Bob and Maxie Faye lived on and ran a stock cattle farm during their marriage until February 2014 when they sold their farm and moved to Springfield, Missouri.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Peggy (Metcalf) Butler.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 65 years, Maxie Faye of the home; children Ginny (Bob) Cook of Conway, AR, Brent (Wendy) Metcalf of Crane, MO, Stacey (Tony) Grisham of Republic, MO; two brothers, Wayne (Mary) Metcalf of Baxter Springs, KS and Bill (Janice) Metcalf of Crane, MO; six grandchildren; Ryan (Brooke) Cook, Jared (April) Cook all of Conway, AR, Lindsey Wilkerson of Memphis, TN, Josh (Ginger) Metcalf of Houston, TX, Kim Metcalf of Crane, MO and Paige Grisham of Republic, MO; seven great-grandchildren Audrey and Jacob Wilkerson, Maleah and Adien Cook, Ellie Metcalf, and Anna and Ava Weeks. As well as a host of much loved nieces and nephews, family and friends.
Funeral services will be held on July 21, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at First Baptist Church Crane, MO. Burial will be at Crane Community Cemetery Crane under the care of Westrip Funeral Home Crane, Missouri.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
