 Marie “Carolyn” Ferguson
October 4, 1937 – October 26, 2025

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Marie “Carolyn” Ferguson, 88, of Galena, Missouri, on October 26, 2025. Carolyn, as she liked to be called, was born on October 4, 1937, in Seiling, Oklahoma, to Robert Hance and Lela Maude (Cook) Mayfield. She was a beloved mother and a cherished friend to all who knew her.
Carolyn was a person with an ever-present positive outlook and bright disposition, always smiling and laughing with those she met. She spent many years working as a bookkeeper in Oklahoma and a medical transcriptionist in Arkansas. She semi-retired when she moved to Florida in 2004, doing part time work as a caregiver and bookkeeper. She moved to Missouri in 2019, where she was able to fully enjoy her retirement. Her passion for making dolls, miniatures, and cards defined much of her life, and she was known for her generous spirit in sharing her gifts. She was a member of the Baptist Church of Valparaiso during her time in Florida and then a member of the Crane Bible Baptist Church in Crane, Missouri.
Survivors include her children, Dickey Ferguson (Theresa), and Connie Chambers (Tom); grandchildren Andrew Coldwell, Nicholas Ferguson, and Shinora Chambers; great-grandchildren Jackson and Sawyer Coldwell; Chevelle Fontineau and Grace Smith; as well as many nieces, nephews, and friends. Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Lela Mayfield, and brothers, Bobby Dan and Charles Ray Mayfield.
A funeral service will be held on October 30, 2025 at 10:00 a.m. at Crane Bible Baptist Church in Crane, Missouri under the care of Westrip Funeral Home Crane, Missouri. Friends and family are invited to celebrate Carolyn’s life. A brief graveside service in Seiling, Oklahoma, will follow at a later date.
“I have been so blessed to have such wonderful children and grandchildren in my life. Celebrate my life—the best is yet to come with eternal life with our Lord.”
— Marie Carolyn Ferguson
