Clent Joseph Rutledge
Clent Joseph Rutledge was born July 5, 1961 to Junior Joseph and Marjorie Jean Rutledge in Aurora, Missouri. Clent graduated from Galena High School in 1979, where he had excelled in his studies. He developed a passion for helping others which led him to successfully obtain his Bachelor of Arts Degree in Speech & Dramatic Art from the University of Missouri-Columbia in 1983.
After moving to Los Angeles, California, he decided to pursue his teaching credential from California State University-Dominquez Hills. Clent furthered his education by obtaining a Master's Degree in Special Education. When he set out to find work in his field of study, the Los Angeles Unified School District gave him that chance in 1988, probably because of his mission statement on his resume. "I am a Professional Educator whose purpose is to perform my duties with care and competence in order to maximize the potential of every student."
It was that kind of compassion that made it easy for Clent to develop wonderful friendships with many people who came in contact with him. His career led him to meet the love of his life, Isabel, while working at Salvin Sp Ed Center. Clent and Isabel were married July 6, 1996 and have enjoyed 21 blissful years of happiness together. If you ask his children, they would say what they most admired about Clent was how much he truly loved his wife and their mother, Isabel. Clent's passions were teaching, playing basketball and rooting for his favorite football team, " The Raiders". He enjoyed his visits to his family home in Missouri where he especially spent time with his mother. Above all, what Clent loved most in his life was being a husband and a father which truly completed him.
Clent was preceded in death by his father, Junior Rutledge.
Survivors include his mother, Marjorie; his wife, Isabel; children Elvira, Jesse and Eugene; grandson, Andrew; daughter-in-law, Laise; future granddaughter-in-law Tara; aunts and uncles, Jerry, Marilyn, Carolyn, Evelyn, Bettie, Louise and a host of family and friends in Los Angeles and Missouri.
