Dwayne Edward Grube Lane
Dwayne Edward Grube Lane, son of Carl and Susan Lane died heroically on Saturday, December 19, 2020, rescuing his niece, nephew, his father and grandfather from a tragic house fire in Crane. Dwayne and his grandfather perished together in the house.
Born in New Jersey, August 27, 1976, he was raised in California and attended Granite Hills High School graduating in 1995. During his four years of high school, Dwayne ran cross county, wrestled and pole vaulted for the track team. He won several state medals in wrestling and pole vaulting. Dwayne was voted Most School Spirit his senior year. He has continued his deep friendships from high school through the rest of his life. Friends: Miles Kennedy of Oregon, Ryan Neumann of Nebraska and Chris Ward of Texas will be in attendance at the memorial service.
Dwayne owned his own trucking business, Lane Logistics. He delivered boats and trailers throughout the Midwest and West Coast. While not on the road, Dwayne worked on the family farm. He loved caring for the pigs and cows. He loved cars and trucks, he was a good mechanic and spent many enjoyable hours doing repairs in his dad’s barn. He kept the family vehicles running.
Dwayne was always up for a good time. He liked the lake, floating down the James River with his brothers and family barbecues where he took great pride in his grilling abilities.
Dwayne is preceded in death by his brother Zachary. He leaves behind the love of his life Lynzee Hudson Lane and their son Carter, age 14. Dwayne is bereaved by his parents Carl and Susan Lane, of Crane: his brothers, Tyler, Cody, Nathan and Dakota; his sisters, Bonnie, Stacey, Jessie and Jody. Numerous nieces and nephews will miss their fun-loving uncle.
Dwayne will be remembered as a hero for his sacrificial act of bravery. No greater love is this than one should lay down his life for another (John 15:13). He will be deeply mourned by his friends and family, but will remembered as the personification of courage, love and devotion.
Funeral services will be Sunday, January 3, 2020, at Westrip Funeral Home in Crane. Visitation will be at 1:00 P.M., service at 2:00 P.M. with burial afterwards at Oak Grove Cemetery on Wire Road in Crane.
