Edith Imogene May
Edith Imogene May, 88, Galena, Missouri was born September 30, 1928 at Galena to Madison Luther and Bessie Elizabeth McCormack Hancock and departed this life August 17, 2017 at her home.
Imogene had been a lifelong resident of the area and a lifelong member of the Mountain Home Church Christ. On June 28, 1947 Imogene was married to Dallas May at the home of H.E. Robertson at Crane, Missouri. Early in her working career she had worked as a teller at the Bank of Crane. After opening Mays market in Crane in 1947 Imogene helped her husband at the store while raising their two boys, when the boys got older she went back to work as a teller at the bank in Galena and worked until she retired. Imogene was a compassionate, caring individual, loving wife, mother and grandmother. She loving to cook, crocheting, playing the fiddle and guitar.
Preceding her in death were her parents, a sister, Bonnie Mortin and a great granddaughter Jasmine May.
Survivors include her husband, Dallas May of the home; two sons, Kerry May and wife Brenda of Ozark, Missouri and Kent May and wife Phyllis of Springfield, Missouri five grandchildren, Aimee Martin and husband Chad, Crystal Crouse and husband Danny, Derek May and wife April, Daniel May and wife Supriya and Darci May; eight great grandchildren, Luke, Hendrix, Harper, Will, Morgan, Brooklyn, Leah and Justus, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, August 22, 2017 at 10.00 a.m. at Westrip Funeral Home, Crane, Missouri. Burial was at Mars Hill Cemetery Crane.
