Elmer Jeral Bishop, 88, Nixa, Missouri was born August 26, 1934 in Austin, Arkansas to James Elmer and Rubye McCasland Bishop and departed this life January 31, 2023 at Mercy Hospital Springfield, Missouri.
Elmer graduated college in 1956 from Cal Poly in San Luis Obispo, California, with a degree in Aeronautical Engineering. He started his career working for McDonald Douglas and later with Raytheon and TRW. Elmer had lived in California for Many years and in Baja, Mexico before moving to Nixa in 2016. He loved music, playing the guitar, wood carving, traveling and playing beach volleyball. Elmer also enjoyed deep sea fishing.
Preceding him in death were his parents and his daughter Suzanna Adams.
Survivors include his wife Brinda of the home; a son Tom Bishop of Temecula, California; two step sons, Mike Scott of Memphis, Tennessee and Jim Scott of Nixa; a sister, Virginia Robinson and husband Jerry of Visalia, California; four grandchildren, Alexa Adams, Jameson Adams, Dalton Adams and Landon Adams; two nieces, Rhonda Thatcher and husband Mark and Robyn Jones; other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held Saturday, February 4, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. in Westrip Funeral Home Crane, Missouri. Burial was in Maple Park Cemetery Aurora, Missouri. Visitation was from 1:00 p.m. until service time at 2:00 p.m.
