Freda Yvonne (Anderson) Weathermon, 78, a long-time resident of the Hurley area, departed this world on Monday, July 8, 2019. She was born December 9, 1940, in Hurley to Loyd and Thelma (Logan) Anderson in the home where she was raised.
After graduating from Hurley High School in May of 1958, Freda was preparing to start Drury College later that fall. On her way to buy a blouse for her first semester in August of 1958, Freda and her mother were involved in a train accident that took the life of her mother and left Freda with serious injuries. Freda would never let that terrible accident hold her back and led her to be a hard-working, independent, single mother, who raised three children to have the same work ethic. Working full-time jobs most of her life, Freda spent her last years working for Silver Dollar City where she loved wearing big frilly dresses and struck up conversations with unsuspecting patrons. She loved to cook for family dinners and her Sour Cream Coffee Cake was a family favorite. She always had a full vegetable garden and her irises were the prettiest in Stone County. She enjoyed watching her grandkids play in sporting events and was the first in line to congratulate them on their accomplishments. Never one to shy away from an argument, Freda was certain to have an opinion about an issue—something her family loved.
Freda was proceeded in death by her mother, Thelma (Logan) Anderson and her father, Loyd Anderson and a son-in-law, Don Flood.
Survivors include her son, James “Jack” Weathermon and Jan, daughter Tracy Flood and Calvin Bane, daughter Lesa Henson and Keith, all of Crane, MO. Grandchildren include Travis Weathermon and Leonard Clinton of Crane, Bridget Shaw and Joshua of Bronaugh, Jessica Townlian and James of Crane, Katina Dunn and Matt of Springfield, Shawna White and Ronnie of Crane, Rob Henson and Lora of Crane. Great grandchildren include Malachi and Elam Shaw, Alex Townlian, Joshua and Caleb Dunn, Lance Schowengerdt, Elijah and Grace White, Olivia, Ava and Curtis Henson.
Freda will be laid to rest at the Crane Community Cemetery in Crane on Thursday, July 11th with graveside services at 10AM. A visitation will be held at Westrip Funeral Home in Crane on Wednesday, July 10th from 6-8p.m..
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Freda’s name to the American Cancer Society.
