Howard Leroy Bowling
Howard Leroy Bowling, of Springfield, Missouri, was born June 12, 1941 in Stone County to Lloyd and Fleda Wilson Bowling and departed this life February 4, 2018 at the age of 76 in his home amongst his family.
Howard was a lifelong resident of Crane, Missouri and member of the Bowling Chapel Church. Amongst his many hobbies, watching his children and grandchildren play ball, bowling, listening to Gospel music, and socializing with others in town were a few of his very favorite. He knew no stranger, was always the first to start up a conversation, and valued that a story was always told correctly. Howard was a retired farmer and funeral director. He had a good soul, full of kindness and love. On November 26, 2011 he made a commitment to share that love with Carolyn Henry, as they were united in marriage and they vowed to build that relationship on a foundation of God’s love. From that day on, Howard was committed to never missing a day of church at Abundant Life in Springfield, where he and Carolyn attended together.
Survivors include a long list of beloved family including his wife Caroyln: a son Jeff Bowling and wife Jackie of Crane; a daughter: Gina Rowe and husband Ray Dean of Crane, five grandchildren: Megan Rice, Jade Brown, Mackenzie Whitted, Jordan Bowling, and Marlee Rowe, and two great grandchildren: Hayden Allen Rice and Raelynn Elaine Whitted. Howard was also loved and survived by Carolyn’s family of three sons: Tony Howerton and wife Tina of Billings, Kenny Howerton and wife Christy of Billings, and Scott Howerton and wife Donna of Crane; 11 grandchildren, and 10 great grandchildren, among a host of many other relatives and friends.
The visitation and funeral will both be held at Westrip Funeral Home, with the visitation being held on Thursday, February 8 from 6-8 p.m., and the funeral being held on Friday, February 9, at 3 p.m. The burial will take place following the funeral at Bowling Chapel Cemetery in Crane.
