James L. Vogt
James (Jim) Luther Vogt, 73, Galena, Missouri was born March 25, 1942 in Versailles, Missouri to Ross V. and Olive S. Wood Vogt and departed this life August 12, 2015 in his home with his loving family at his side.
After graduating high school Jim began installing central office equipment for telephone companies and in September of 1968 Jim started working for the Continental Telephone Company in Thayer, Missouri, which later became Contel, GTE and then Verizon. He worked in various management positions in Thayer, Missouri, Russellville, Arkansas, Knoxville, Iowa and finally Wentzville, Missouri. He retired in 2001 after working 33 years in the industry. Jim enjoyed his children, grandchildren, fishing and the St. Louis Cardinals.
On February 8, 1964 Jim married Martha Rose Brinkman and they enjoyed 51 years of marriage.
Preceding him in death were his parents, Ross and Olive Vogt; and a sister-in-law, Tina C. Vogt.
Survivors include his wife Martha of the home; daughter, Lynette D. Van Gundy and husband Chester of Cape Fair, Mo.; son, James Jeffery Vogt and wife Tina E. of Springfield, Mo.; three brothers, David Vogt and wife Mary of Gamaliel. Arkansas, Steven Vogt and wife JoAnn of Hardenville, Missouri and Virgil Vogt of Cassville, Mo.; two grandchildren, Emily Jo Van Gundy and Nicholas James Vogt; other relatives and friends.
Memorial services will be Monday, August 17, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at Westrip Funeral Home, Crane, Missouri. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until service time at 11:00 a.m. Final disposition will be cremation.
