James Lewis Stowe 77, Springfield, Missouri was born May 7, 1935 in Strafford, Missouri to Paul and Florence Dixon Stow and departed this life Friday, February 8, 2013 in Mercy Hospital Springfield.
Jim had served in the United States Air Force as a survival Instructor and was a veteran of the Korean War. On July 12, 1959 Jim became a Trooper with the Missouri State Highway Patrol and retired on May 1, 1993. After his retirement Jim worked for Stone County for about 8 years and at one point was the Emergency Coordinator.
Jim and his wife Shirley had moved to Springfield about 10 years ago from Crane, Missouri. He loved to shoot guns and be outdoors. He had been a Scout Master with the local Boy Scouts while living in Crane. Jim had been an Elder in his church and served by making visits to people in the hospital.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Florence Stow and a brother, George Stow.
Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Shirley of the home; two daughters, Lori Bell and husband Don and Christie Stowe all of Tulsa, Oklahoma; two son, Randy Stowe and wife Susan of Nixa, Missouri and Tim Stowe and wife Kris of Crane; brother, Gene Stow and wife Pat of Strafford; sister-in-law, Barbara Stow also of Strafford; 10 grandchildren and a host of nephews and nieces.
Jim will be mourned and missed by all who had the chance to know and love him.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, February 12, 2012 at 7:00 p.m. in Westrip Funeral Home Crane, Missouri. Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. until service time at 7:00 p.m. Cremation will follow under the care of Westrip Funeral Home.
