Jerry Lynn Barke was born January 14, 1953 in Springfield, Missouri to Eric and Thelma Eaton Barke and departed this life on March 11, 2022 in his home surrounded by his family. Jerry was 69 years old and was a lifelong resident of the area.
Jerry was a graduate of Hurley High School and attended the First Baptist Church, Aurora, Missouri. He was married to Janie Lewis Barke for 48 years who survives him. Jerry was a truck driver for Stone County Road and Bridge Crew. He has previously worked for Spring Creek Farm and Home for 27 years. Jerry had also worked for the Western Auto and the Foundry in Crane, Missouri and as a bus driver for Hurley School. Jerry was a founding member of the Hurley Fire Department Auxiliary and had volunteered with the Hurley Fire Department for 27 years. He also volunteered with the Spring Creek Saddle Club in Hurley. Jerry also worked for over nine years with American Pride Food Service along with Mark Kisner.
Jerry was preceded in death by his parents and a granddaughter, Sawyer Lynn Daugherty. Survivors include his wife Janie of the home, son, Chris Barke (Amanda) Highlandville, Missouri, daughter Cherrie Daugherty (Carl Freeman) Reeds Spring, Missouri, one brother Michael Barke, Aurora, Missouri, two sisters, Janeen Addie (Martin) Willard, Missouri and Janell Perkins of Arizona, grandchildren, Phillip Barke, Raelyn Barke, Max Daugherty (Taylor), Hudson Daugherty and Jered Daugherty and great grandson Hudson Lee Daugherty, other relatives and many friends.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, March 17, 2022 in Westrip Funeral Home Crane, Missouri. Burial will follow in Short Cemetery, Hurley, Missouri. Visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 16, 2022 in the funeral home.
