Larry Eugene Tener, 69, formerly of Villisca, IA passed away at his home in Hurley, MO Friday morning September 7, 2018. He was born on November 29, 1948 in La Porte, Indiana to the late Donald Tener and Betty Waage Tener Rhamy. He graduated high school in 1967 from La Porte, Indiana, He enlisted in United States Air Force to serve his country and had tours in Okinawa and Vietnam. After his discharge he later joined the Army Reserve. He married the love of his life Carol Sue Sprague on October 3, 1975 throughout this union they were blessed with 5 children.
His Occupations included carpenter, concrete worker, over the road truck driver, but to his children he was the man that could fix anything. Due to declining health he retired in 2007.
He enjoyed cooking, hunting,listening to country music, boating, fishing, cookouts, playing cards, watching football and his westerns. But most of all he enjoyed spending time with his wife, children, grandchildren and friends. He loved having people around to visit with, laugh, hug and tell his many stories.
Preceding him in death were, father Donald Tener, mother Betty Waage Rhamy, stepmother Dollie Tener, stepfather Tom Johnson, and Duane Rhamy, Brother Jerry Hazelbaker, Brothers- in-law Tom Sprague and Bill Harrold.
Left to cherish his memory, wife, Carol Tener, Hurley, MO, son Lesley Brad Tener and wife Sandy of Rock Island, IL, daughters, Dawn Lynn Clark husband Jason of Hurley, MO, Amanda Jo Tener, Council Bluffs, IA. Brother Richard Tener and wife Mickey of Cantonment, FL, Patricia Harrold of Villisca, IA. Grandchildren, Paige and Kobe Mitchell of Hurley, MO, Brittney Swanbeck and husband Josh of Leavenworth, KS. Great grandchildren Makenna Tener and Dakota Swanbeck. A host of nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles and friends.
He is also survived by Brian Tener and John Tener.
