Ruth Erma Carr Smith, of Cape Fair, Missouri, passed away on Monday, December 29, 2025, in Springfield, Missouri, at the age of 99 years 3 months and 22 days.
A life-long resident of Stone County, Missouri, she was born on September 7, 1926 to James and Bertha Stone Carr of Cape Fair, Missouri. She married George W Smith on August 21, 1943, and they were the parents of three children.
She was preceded in death by her husband, George; her parents James and Bertha Carr; four brothers, Lester Carr, Howard Carr, Ralph Carr, Herschel Carr and a sister Dorothy Brown; her son, Norman Smith; a granddaughter Tiffany Whitlow; and a son-in-law Hank Whitlow.
She is survived by a daughter Janette Smith Whitlow of Billings Missouri, a son Jerry Smith of Portland, Oregon, and a daughter-in-law Jane Hilton Smith of Galena; nine Grandchildren, Tammy Henry, Twajana Moss (Ira), Curtis Whitlow (Lisa), Courtney Smith (Matt), Chris Smith (Sharon), Cade Smith (Tabbi), Kevin Smith, Nicole Smith Cubillos (Mike) and Josh Smith, ten Great Grandchildren, and 6 Great-Great Grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews.
Graveside funeral services will be held Wednesday, January 7, 2026 at 2:00 p.m.
at Nolan Cemetery Galena, Missouri under the care of Westrip Funeral Home Crane, Missouri.
In Lieu of Flowers the family has requested donations be made to Alzheimer or Dementia research.
