Stephen Earl Wright passed away peacefully at the age of 79 on his farm surrounded by family. He was born on his great-grandfather’s homestead in northern Stone County to Harold Bell Wright and Louella Gold Wright on January 7, 1943 and died on February 22, 2022.
He was a 1961 graduate of Crane High School, a 1976 graduate of Delaware Valley University with a degree in small animal husbandry, and was a veteran of the U. S. Navy. He spent most of his working years in the formula animal feed industry and had been employed by the MFA Milling Company, Monarch Feed Mills, Inc. and retired from the Farmland Industries, Inc. feed division. Stephen was a past president of the Oklahoma Feed Industry Association. He retired to Stone County and spent that time gardening, growing tomatoes and traveling with his wife Helen. Although Stephen lived in several places during his adult life, Stone County had been home to the Wright family for many generations and was always his home.
He married Helen Britt Fahrner at The First Presbyterian Church of Enid, Oklahoma on June 27, 1986.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two step-fathers (Ralph Hilton Sr. and Harold Dulin) and two step-brothers (Ralph Hilton Jr. and David Dulin) and is survived by his wife Helen, his daughter Laura Phillips, three grand-children (William, Hadrain and Benjamin Phillips, his step-son Fred Fahrner, his sister Jeannie Russell and three step-brothers (Paul, John and Jim Dulin), two step-sisters (Pat Wakefield and Kathleen Ellerman).
Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, February 28, 2022 at Wright Cemetery in Union City, Missouri under the care of Westrip Funeral Home, Crane, Missouri.
