David Alan Wagoner
David Wagoner was born on June 8, 1939 in Portage Lakes, Ohio to parents William and Evelyn Wagoner. He passed away on May 11, 2015. On July 22, 1969 he married Janet Webb who he met at Stanford University. Janet passed on with lung cancer in July 1994 after 25 years of happy marriage. On March 10, 1995 Dave married Teresa Hoff. He leaves behind his wife Teresa Wagoner, daughter Jennifer Peak (son-in law Darrin and granddaughters Eden and Poppy), stepdaughter Karen Faucett (son-in law Johnnie and grandsons Cody, Brayden, Calen, and Andrew), and stepson Nathan Hoff (daughter-in-law Laura and granddaughter Anna).
Dave attended the College of Wooster, the University of Michigan, and Stanford University where he earned three degrees in Chemistry and Environmental Science. He went to work for the U.S. Public Health Service which became part of the Environmental Protection Agency when it was formed in 1970. He worked in Washington D.C. and several regional offices in hazardous waste regulation and disposal. His largest project was the dioxin clean up of Times Beach, MO, which was a settlement of about $200 million. He retired in 1994 and started his own consulting company, which he operated until the end of 2009.
Dave’s interest outside of work was music. He sang in church choirs, the College of Wooster Glee Club, and in quartets, including a barbershop quartet (The Squires Four) which qualified to go to the International Barbershop Contest in 1967.
Dave was a life-long Lutheran. He held numerous positions in the church including Chairman of the Board of Elders. He taught Sunday School, sang in the choir, and worked in the administration of the church. He and his wife Teresa started the Stephen Ministry program at the Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church in Kimberling City, MO.
Dave enriched the lives of the people with whom he came in contact-his family and friends, his work associates, and his church. He made a difference in all of their lives. He will be missed.
Memorial service was held Saturday, May 16, 2016 in the Redeemer Lutheran Church, Springfield, Missouri. Interment was in Pine Crest Cemetery, Kimberling City, Missouri. Final disposition was cremation under the care of Westrip Funeral Home, Crane, Missouri.
