John Richard May, 73, Aurora, Missouri was born November 14, 1941 in South Pittsburg, Tennessee to John H. and Ruby H. Neal May and departed this life November 16, 2014 in Cox Medical Center South Springfield, Missouri.
Immediately after graduating high school, John joined the Air Force. He gave 20 years of honorable service to the United States, and was a veteran of the Vietnam War. John was married to Margo Hoppmann on December 28, 1981 and to this union two children were born. He had been a resident of the area since moving here in 1985 from the state of Nevada. John and Margo own Lou’s in Marionville, Missouri where many nights you could find him greeting people with a smile and a hug. John had an insatiable love for flying and spending time in the outdoors camping or boating.
Preceding him in death were his parents and a sister, Judy Jordan.
Survivors include his wife, Margo of the home; a daughter, Andrea May of Spokane, Washington; two sons, Austin May of Aurora and John Jeffery May of Great Falls, Montana; two brothers, Sam May and wife Marsha and Jim May and wife Denise all of Kimball, Tennessee; two grandchildren, Catie and Mark May, other relatives and many friends.
Graveside services will be Thursday, November 20, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery, Springfield, Missouri under the care of Westrip Funeral Home Crane, Missouri. Visitation will be Thursday, November 20, 2014 from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 noon in the funeral home.
