Ola May Merritt Smithwick, 87, Crane, Missouri was born February 26, 1926
in Hurley, Missouri to Raymond and Alice Merritt and departed this life Tuesday,
February 26, 2013 in Springfield, Missouri.
Ola May had been a lifelong
resident of the area and a member of the First Baptist Church Crane. She had
worked as a waitress and in the garment factory. Ola May enjoyed social
activities and visiting with all her friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Bethel and Donald
Merritt; three sisters, Virginia Metcalf, Ruth Martin and Joann DeWitt and a
great granddaughter, Ally Michele Smith.
Survivors include two daughters, Shirley Hilton and husband Bill of
Springfield, Alice Johnson and husband Doug of Crane; a brother Junior Merritt
of Crane; six grandchildren, Bryant Smith and wife Shana of Marionville,
Missouri, Leslie Hilton of Springfield, Michele Cook and husband Brad of Crane,
Jason Hilton and wife Amanda of Springfield, Jessica Johnson of Crane and Jenny
Garner and husband Scott of Crane; 15 great grandchildren; a special friend Stan
McDonald of Monett, Missouri and a host of nieces, nephews and many
friends.
Funeral services will be Friday, March 1, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at the First
Baptist Church in Crane. Burial will be in Crane Community Cemetery under the
care of Westrip Funeral Home, Crane. Visitation will be Thursday, February 28,
2013 from 6 to 8 p.m. in the funeral home.
